May 25 & May 26, 2013 - Battle of Fort George This major battle re-enactment on the 200th anniversary is being coordinated by Parks Canada on Saturday May 25th in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The Fort is open from 10:00am to 5:00pm with demonstrations and activities happening throughout the day!! Regular admission rates to the Fort apply. The major battle re-enactment of the weekend ("The Battle of Fort George") will take place on the Town Commons just out side Fort George.
Over 800 re-enactors are expected for this major re-enactment which will take place on the Commons. Free for the public to watch the battle. Following the battle, an evening Show takes place at 9:00 pm (doors open at 8:00) on May 25 called the Bombardment of Fort George.The show starts at 9:00 pm and features a artillery barrage, pyrotechnics, and fireworks inside the fort, all set to music. It will give the illusion of Fort George being set on fire. There will be a charge with tickets available in advance from Parks Canada. May 26th Sunday 10:00am there will be a parade through the town & there will be another battle re-enactment outside the fort at 2;00 pm. Free to the public.

June 21, 22, & 23 2013 The Laura Secord Bicentennial Event and Walk will be held Saturday June 21 and 22 marking exactly 200 years since Laura's historic trek. Start with Wine, Cheese and Chocolate at 7:00 pm on June 21 at the Laura Secord House in Queenston. Then on Saturday, starting at 6:00 am to 9:00 pm join thousands of other Canadians and walk into history on the special commemorative walk from the Laura Secord Homestead in Queenston to DeCew House. The Laura Secord Trail is divided into 5 stages and people can walk the entire distance or a shorter route. Parking is available at the Laura Secord Homestead and Niagara College with a shuttle bus service. The Laura Secord Finale is on June 23rd at 3:00 pm at the Laura Secord Homestead. Dec 6 &7 2013 NIAGARA ON FIRE to commemorate the Burning of Niagara. Join us downtown at Market Square for a special commemoration featuring out door events. Queen Street will be lit as if on fire. There will be the outdoor premier of a specially made local video about the fires and their consequences. As well the evening will feature a special Sound and Light show on the front of the Courthouse!
